FileMaker has announced the release of a new package of free templates for its consumer-oriented relational database application Bento 3 aimed at organising a family’s every activity from chores to meal planning.

Called Bento 3 Family Organizer, the new offer also includes a 30-day free trial of Bento, after which families who want to continue using the templates will have to purchase a full version of the database software, which retails for $79.95 (or $129.95 for a five licence family pack).

Each of the templates in the package covers a specific family activity. For example, you could organise your shopping, set up and track all your bill payments and even assign chores to each member of your family — which is sure to make the product a winner with the teenage kids in every house.

“Organising a household is challenging for all of us. From paying bills to shopping, planning meals and other responsibilities, it’s a major job,” said Steve McManus, FileMaker’s Asia Pacific regional manager. “The Family Organizer, together with Bento 3, helps make the task of organising a busy family much easier.”

Bento 3 requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or 10.6 and higher.  The Bento 3 Family Organizer also works with Bento for iPhone and Bento for iPad, when it is officially launched in Australia, so users can organise their family matters on the mobile devices and synchronise the information with their Mac.

FileMaker also provides the Bento Template Exchange, a community site that offers hundreds of other user-created templates to fully personalise the Bento experience for your particular needs.

Excited to hear about the new release (2012). My wife and I could use a new family organizer. Will we still be able to use the old templates like from the 2010 release?
