Speculation that the iPhone 5 will ship on September 21 continues, following news that US postal service FedEx has pre-warned its employees of an expected ‘surge volume’ event on the day.

In a company memo acquired and posted by MacRumors, FedEx has delayed a corporate class, in order to focus on the unnamed event, said to begin in the US on Friday September 21 and continue until Monday September 24.

The full memo [via MacRumors] reads:

Due to the upcoming ‘surve volume’ event between Sep 21-24, this class has been postponed to the week of Nov 5-9 and you have been automatically moved to that class. If you are unable to attend the week of Nov 5-9 please send me an email and we’ll remove you from the roster.

Thank you for your understanding.

Adding weight to rumours that the event is the iPhone 5 launch date, AppleInsider points out that in the past, Apple has partnered with FedEx to execute home deliveries of its new products.

If the reports are true, the device will ship just 11 days after Apple’s iPhone 5 press event, which has been has been confirmed for September 12 in the US (September 13, 3am AEST).
