As predicted by the Mayan calendar, the world will end in less than two weeks on December 21, 2012. As a result of the pending apocalypse, Apple’s shareholders are selling their shares.
Whether investors are using the money they cashed in to build arcs or spaceships is unclear. However, the stock sell off wiped US$35bn off Apple’s market value in one day last week and that is enough to build a few spaceships (according to Nasa The Space Shuttle Endeavour cost approximately US$1.7 billion). Places in the spaceship would obviously only be available to Apple fans and followers.
The December 21, 2012 is the end of a 5125-year-long cycle in the Mayan calendar. The end of the Mayan calendar is said to coincide with the sun falling into alignment with the centre of the Milky Way. Another suggestion is that a planet called Nibiru (or Planet X) is hiding behind the sun, ready to go on a collision course with the earth.
