Celebrity Cruises is taking internet access for its cruise ships to the next level, adding a ‘Celebrity iLounge’ to three of its cruisers. The iLounges are similar in appearance to Apple’s iconic stores, even down to the large timber tables laden with MacBooks.

Each nerd-on-a-cruise-haven features three main areas: MacBook workstations where guests can check their email, jump on facebook, or print their boarding passes; a retail space selling the latest Macs, iPods and Apple gear; and an education section where certified staff will offer tips on Mac or iPod usage as well as courses on Apple software.

The iLounge areas are Authorised Apple Resellers, and will be available on the three ships – Summit, Solstice and Eclipse – within the next few months.

Celebrity Cruises do not currently sail in Australian waters, but offer cruises in a range of exotic areas including the Bahamas, Europe, the Caribbean, and South America. Personally, I’d prefer to check out the scenery than sit at a MacBook all day, but at least the option’s there.
