Mariner Software has announced the release of Contour 1.0, an application to help motion picture scriptwriters. Contour 1.0 costs $US49.95 ($US44.95 to download).

Contour is designed to help movie scriptwriters to structure their script. It is a story development system that teaches writers how to use character-based structures to develop their script. It features a “fill-in-the-blanks” approach, and shows you what elements need to be in a script.

Features include the ability to record random ideas while you write, search that lets you look for script concepts by content, notes and feedback, support for printing “beat sheets” and structure reports, and export and import of XML-based content.

Mariner is offering an upgrade path for registered users of TotallyWrite, the shareware software that served as the origin for Contour. Last week, TotallyWrite developer Jeffrey Alan Schechter announced on his Web site that the software had been acquired by Mariner Software and would be rebranded as Contour.
