The Tinh.te website, based in Vietnam, got its hands on what it claims is a third-generation iPad and ran Geekbench 2.2.7 on it. Screenshots taken of the System Information tab detailed the system as an ‘iPad 3,3′ running iOS 5.1.
The processor shows up as an ARMv7 running at 1GHz – the same as the processor in the iPad 2. However, we know that the A5X processor in the new iPad offers quad-core graphics, an improvement on the iPad 2′s A5 chip.
There’s also 988MB of RAM listed in the System Information tab – twice the amount of the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.
The new iPad scored 756 in the tests, performing best in the Floating Point and Memory tests. For comparative purposes, the iPad 2 scored 760, though it’s worth noting that Geekbench tests the processor’s capabilities rather than graphics performance.
