New MacBook Airs are expected to go on sale later this week, with super-fast Thunderbolt ports, Intel’s speedy new Sandy Bridge processor and apparently 400MBps flash memory. But all this focus on speed and performance ignores what the masses really want: shiny, shiny keyboards!

Well, Air users will be left in the dark no more, according to ‘people familiar with the matter,’ says AppleInsider, with Apple planning to reinstitute backlit keyboards as a standard feature in the MacBook Air.

The move would see luminescent keyboards across the entire range of Apple laptops, apart from the 13.3in white MacBook, which is probably shiny enough as it is.

One person was compelled to have their say. We encourage you to do the same..

Why all this stupid secrecy about release dates ???

Some Apple stores I have contacted to ask if they are opening early this Friday are just acting stupid and say they don’t know anything about it – even their Managers claim they don’t know anything about it…

What sort of stupid policy is that ??? Apple are honestly killing their own sales potential by keeping everyone in the dark…
