The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is in the process of adding an official ARIA chart app to subscription music provider Spotify and producing an online weekly music charts streaming service later this year.

ARIA CEO Dan Rosen could not confirm a date for the Australian music streaming service that would enable listeners to stream the top Australian music at the time over the internet, but told The Music Network it would arrive “as the year progresses”.

The UK launched its own official Top 100 chart streaming service in May.

The Aussie app for Spotify will arrive shortly, according to Rosen – it’s expected to be launched “in a few weeks” around Australia.

Spotify, originally from Sweden, launched in Australia in May, joining a rapidly expanding streaming market that includes Rdio, MOG, Pandora, The Hype Machine, 8tracks and Sony Music Unlimited.
