Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware and Software Design Jonathan Ive has been spotted eating pizza with a group of CEOs.

Other guests included Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, and Google X skunkworks director Mike Cassidy, as well as CEOs of services such as Yelp, Dropbox, and Path. Cassidy posted the photograph of the gathering to Facebook.

Business Insider speculates about the connections between the CEOs, and what influences and experience each might be able to share.

The dinner was hosted by Silicon Valley entrepreneur Nirav Tolia, who currently runs Nextdoor, a local social network, according to Business Insider.

One comment on The Verge’s version of the story points out that this gathering is not on par with the gathering on February 17, 2011 that was attended by late Apple CEO Steve Jobs, US President Barack Obama, Eric Schmidt Google Chairman, Art Levinson CEO Genetech, John Chambers CEO Cisco, Larry Ellison CEO Oracle, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Carol Bartz CEO Yahoo.

UK born Sir Jony Ive is the leading designer behind a raft of Apple products including the iMac, MacBook, Mac Pro, MacBook Air, iPod, iPhone, and the iPad. Ive was born in Chingford, London and holds a Bachelor of Arts and an honourary doctorate from Newcastle Polytechnic.

Ive has been recognised with numerous design awards including being named Designer of the Year by the Design Museum London in 2003 and being awarded the title Royal Designer for Industry by The Royal Society of Arts. He received his knighthood from the Princes Royal in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace last May. His knighthood was announced in the Queen’s New Years Honours list on 31 December 2011.
