Evercore Partners analyst Rob Cihra believes Apple sold 16.5 million iPads in the quarter that ended in June.
Needham and Co analyst Charlie Wolf recently announced that he expects Apple to have sold 20 million iPads in the just gone quarter.
Cihra told investors that he expects traditional computer sales to decline by four percent in the third quarter of 2012 compared to last year. Other reports have shown that PC shipments dropped 0.1 percent worldwide in the June quarter. The only PC manufacturer seeing any growth was Apple.
Cihra believes that a quarter of tablet purchases are truly direct replacements for PCs, while another quarter are “effectively” replacing PCs, as users delay purchasing a new computer by getting an iPad or another tablet, according to Apple Insider’s report.
