Since its release on 18 September, the latest version of iOS has been adopted by 74 percent of Apple devices using the App Store based on the company’s App Store Usage numbers.

According to a chart published on Apples’s App Store support page, iOS 6 is adopted on 22 percent of iOS devices and older iOS versions combined to only reach six percent. The two latest operating systems, iOS 6 and iOS 7, feature on 96 percent of all devices.

iOS 6 took more then half a year to reach an adoption of 83 percent after its launch in September 2012.

In a separate report from the Online Advertising Network, Chitika, iPhone users were more inclined to update to iOS 7 than iPad users.

2 people were compelled to have their say. We encourage you to do the same..

  1. Jamie says:

Considering that it is, more or less, a pushed update of course the majority of devices will have it.

Plus the hype placed behind the OS is such that people think that they have to update to it.

Personally I’m seriously considering rolling my wife’s iPhone 4 back to iOS6 as iOS 7 is slower and less stable than it was. My parents are also asking how they can roll their iPhone 4S back to iOS 6 at they are also finding iOS 7 less than satisfactory.

  2. Len says:

I agree with the above commenter. The title is misleading. Just because its installed doesn’t mean its preferred. I haven’t found a single person on iOS7 that has told me to upgrade to it. They all said avoid it like the plague!
