Apple TV, iOs 8, macworld australiaCoinciding with the rollout of iOS 8 this week, Apple has also released a new software update for Apple TV. New features include a dedicated Beats Music icon for US customers, Family Sharing feature and new overall design layout. The new update is available for over-the-air download via the Settings menu.

Appleinsider reports that Beats Music offers users a 14-day free trial to US users when they sign up directly from their Apple TV. Despite missing well-known feature “The Sentence,” Beats Music on Apple TV is visually and structurally in line with the iOS version.

The Family Sharing feature from the new iOS 8 also makes an appearance on Apple TV. The feature allows users to access all media content, purchased and rented, with any Apple ID associated with the single Apple TV set-top box.

The updated user interface and overall design has been revamped to create a more modern feel, reflecting that of the new iOS 8.

According to Appleinsider, the new update appears to only be available on third-generation Apple TV units.
