Apple has released an update for the Apple TV (2nd generation) – taking it from iOS 4.1 to iOS 4.1.1. According to Apple’s release notes, the minor update provides two fixes: it “addresses an issue that causes some high-definition TVs to incorrectly display at 480p” and “addresses an issue that may cause a movie or TV show to be re-downloaded”.

We’ve not experienced those particular issues here at AMW, but if you have, you should upgrade your Apple TV to the latest software.

So how exactly do you update the software? Just fire up your Apple TV and go to Settings > General. From there, click Update Software and you’ll see a download message. Select Download and Install to begin the download process. And make sure you leave the it to cycle through the entire process, otherwise you might end up with a black brick that needs to be connected to iTunes to be recovered.
