Apple Australia announced today that the store will open at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 13, finally ending months of speculation over when it would take the wraps off of its first Australian store outside of Sydney.

The opening of the store will provide an ideal platform for Apple to show off whatever products are launched at next Tuesday’s press event in the US, to which journalists were this week lured with an invitation featuring the words “let’s rock” and the iTunes logo. Historical trends and the invitation’s structure have fueled a consensus that Apple will launch new iPods and complementary content services, but Apple is as always keeping mum.

The first 1000 visitors to the Chadstone store will receive a free Apple T-shirt.

Like other Apple Stores, the new outlet will offer personal training through Apple’s One to One program, which offers in-depth personal training sessions about Apple technologies and related skills. The site will also include an Apple Genius Bar, where knowledgeable Apple technical staff offer advice for users of all things Apple, and reservations-based Personal Shopping with buying assistance provided by in-house staff.

Apple Stores also run regular workshops on a range of topics.

Apple launched its first Australian store, in Sydney’s CBD, on June 18. A second store, at the Chatswood Chase shopping centre in Sydney’s northern suburbs, opened on August 9. The Chadstone store, located on the second floor of the expansive and upmarket shopping centre in Melbourne’s inner south-east, is part of a major renewal and expansion that will grow the popular centre to 500 stores by the time it’s complete next year.

Australian Macworld will be at the launch next week, and will bring you all the details ASAP.
