The rumours are coming thick and fast at the moment, with Engadget tonight getting its hands on images of what it believes is a Magic Trackpad to use with desktop Macs.

The pictured device matches closely the design of Apple’s wireless keyboards, and would look perfectly at home next to your iMac. I’m not necessarily sold on trackpads being better than a Magic Mouse, but depending on what this sexy bit of aluminium can do, it could be a winner. And given that Apple is really backing the multitouch method of input, this could be a good way to bring more touch-based interaction to Mac OS X (and perhaps a new Apple TV) without the need for 27in (or bigger) touchscreens.

Will we see the Magic Trackpad (or Mac mini and Apple TV updates) announced in the wee hours of the morning? Find out here, from 3am (AEST).
