Apple has begun shipping its 21.5in and 27in iMacs with built in VESA mount adapters, enabling Mac users to wall- or desk-mount their computers.

The VESA mount adapters are available for the 2.7GHz and 2.9GHz 21.5in iMacs and the 2.9GHz and 3.2GHz 27in iMacs, adding $40 to the computers’ prices.

The iMac with Built-in VESA Mount Adapter range ships without the traditional stand, instead a mount must be purchased separately. For those who wish to purchase a mount through Apple, the ‘Configure your iMac’ page offers three options: a Bretford MobilePro Wall Mount for an additional $189.95; a Bretford MobilePro Desk Mount for $239.95; and a Bretford MobilePro Desk Mount Combo for $329.95.

Apple also released the latest Mountain Lion update this morning, with OS X 10.8.3 adding Windows 8 support to Boot Camp, improvements to the Safari internet browser and a number of bug fixes.

The update is available through the App Store.
