Apple Insider reports that ‘people familiar with the software’ have said that select members of Apple’s developer community were invited to participate in the company’s Mountain Lion Update seed project this week, ahead of the release of a beta.
Once the beta is released, we’ll find out what Apple plans to change and add in the next update to its operating system. In September, Apple released Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2, a major update that added Facebook integration to Macs.
Apple has been busy with updates this week, releasing iOS 6.0.1 to the public, an iOS 6.1 beta to developers, and updates to its Mac OS X versions of iPhoto, Safari and Aperture.
The iPad mini and iPad 4 were also released on Friday, but the queues outside Apple Stores for the new product were significantly smaller than we’ve seen at launch events previously.
