Apple has still not officially announced the new iPhone, or that a new iPad mini is on the cards, however new rumours overnight pointed to the September 12 event date.

A new report has revealed that Apple has instructed its authorised resellers to triple display space for the iPad on the store floor. Apple’s alleged deadline for this new requirement is September 12th.

MacRumors has received word from multiple Apple Premium Resellers in Europe that Apple has requested they set aside additional table space for iPad displays over the next few weeks. One of the sources specifically cites September 12 as the Apple-imposed deadline for the adjustments to be made, while another source indicates that their store is already at work on tripling the amount of display space dedicated to the iPad. We’re told that the emphasis on iPad display space is coming at the expense of Apple’s Mac Pro and Mac mini computers, which are reportedly being removed from display entirely at these locations. Displays of iPods and associated headphones are also reportedly being trimmed back to release space for the iPad. The iPad will account for 45 percent of showroom space.” reported MacRumors.

US telco,Verizon Wireless has also issued an all-staff vacation blackout from September 21 to September 30 so that all Verizon retail staff will be available for the rumoured launch. TechCrunch also received a tip from a “trusted Verizon employee” informing them of the blackout starting September 21st.

Apple is expected to announce the next iPhone at a September 12 media event, with the iPhone to be available the following week on Friday September 21.
