Apple has no plans to make a Lightning equipped dock for the iPhone 5.

In an email to a 9to5Mac reader, Apple’s VP of marketing Phil Schiller revealed Apple won’t be shipping a dock because: “Most people who use docks use them with speaker or clock systems.”

The footer for Schiller’s email stated that it was “Sent from my iPhone 5”.

This is the first time Apple hasn’t offered a dock designed for a new iPhone, notes 9to5Mac.

According to a separate report, third parties are already shipping Lightning cable adaptors.

9to5Mac notes that Nanotch and iTronz are offering pre-orders for 30-pin to Lightning adapters. It is unlikely that Apple will have licensed its proprietary Lightning port technology to these manufacturers and they will not have the Made for iPhone accreditation.
