The US Department of Justice is believed to be about to announce legal proceedings against Apple and five major publishers over alleged ebook price fixing.
According to Reuters, the Justice Department is also investigating CBS Corp’s Simon & Schuster Inc, HarperCollins Publishers Inc, Lagardere SCA’s Hachette Book Group, Pearson and Macmillan.
“A lawsuit against Apple, one of the parties not in negotiations with the Justice Department for a potential settlement, could come as early as Wednesday but no final decision has been made,” Reuters said.
The five publishing groups may be involved in litigation later this week.
