While the Re/Code report admits that Apple declined to comment on its findings, the unofficial announcement matches up with past iPhone media event dates. The September date also reflects numerous recent reports concerning the predicted announcement and release date of the next-generation iPhone.
A 9to5mac report points out that this means there is also no confirmation of what exactly will be revealed on 9 September. One can assume it will be the iPhone 6 with its new A8 processors, but there are a number of aspects that remain a subject of discussion and speculation. For example, we still don’t know whether the rumoured 4.7in and 5.5in models will be announced together or separately, with multiple reports indicating delays involving the 5.5in model.
Nevertheless, it appears we now have a date in which all of the rumour and speculation will hopefully be cleared up, and we will see the official unveiling of the iPhone 6.
