Adobe has announced that is will be updating its creative suite to support the new MacBook Pro’s Retina display.

Adobe revealed its plans in a blog post on Thursday, stating that a ‘selection’ of its current creative software will be optimised to display content on HiDPI displays “within the coming months”, specifically noting the new MacBook Pro’s Retina display.

A Retina ready version of Photoshop CS6 is scheduled to arrive this autumn, and “each product team will be releasing support for HiDPI display for Apple’s Retina display as soon as the development is complete and tested for each individual product,” Adobe announced.

Adobe expects to update Dreamweaver, Edge Animate, Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop, Photoshop Touch, Prelude, Premiere Pro and SpeedGrade with HiDPI support within the next few months, and the updates will be free for all CS6 and Creative Cloud customers.

“We are currently evaluating the roadmap for when other products may support HiDPI displays, and we will announce those plans as they are finalized,” Adobe says. Several comments on the blog express concern about the lack of an estimated date for InDesign.

“Additionally, with Creative Cloud we now have the opportunity to release new features as they are ready, outside of major release cycles,” Adobe continued, revealing that from autumn, “even more of our flagship products, including Photoshop, will begin to release features exclusively to Creative Cloud members.”
