The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has released an app for iOS and Android to help and inform shoppers about returning goods, receiving refunds and lay-by reminders.

In a report by the Herald Sun, ACCC Deputy Chair Delia Rickard said the app would aid shoppers when dealing with refunds, returns, warranties and lay-by.

“The feature I like most about the app is you can quickly photograph copies of your receipts, so if you need proof of purchase, if you want to return them later on, you have it right there on your phone,” she told ABC television.

“You can also set it for reminders about when a gift card is going to expire or when you need to make a lay-by payment.”

The app is free for both iOS and Android users.

The ACCC’s latest offering is its second iOS release this year, following a free app that was launched in July for parents and carers to provides mobile access to a range of infant and nursery product safety information, in a bid to promote child safety. For more on this story click here.
