The iPhone 5 will be on sale in France on 15 October, according to a telco executive.
Stéphane Richard, the CEO of leading French carrier Orange, said in an interview with a TV station that he had received information regarding the iPhone 5 and its planned release date on 15 October – a Saturday.
In the past Apple has usually released big product updates on a Friday or Saturday. The 15th in France is the 14th in the US, which is in line with tradition.
It’s highly unusual for Apple partners such as Richard to reveal such information, although back in April Sony CEO, Sir Howard Stringer told the Wall Street Journal that a camera sensor made in a plant damaged by a Japanese earthquake was to be used in the iPhone 5.
