The second-generation Apple TV has shifted more than two million units since it went on sale in September last year, an analyst has reported.
Concord Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that his survey of Apple suppliers showed sales of the second-gen Apple TV had held steady since its launch in October 2010, Apple Insider reports.
Sales of the device hit 250,000 in just one month and reached the one million mark just before Christmas and Kuo reckons that Apple sold 820,000 units in Q2 of fiscal 2011.
The success of the device is particularly interesting as Apple has always regarded the Apple TV as a hobby and not one of the company’s key product lines.
