Rumours surrounding Apple’s plans for developing a smart watch have continued today, with Bloomberg reporting that Apple has a team of about 100 designers working on a wearable device.

According to the Bloomberg report, “the team includes managers, members of the marketing group and software and hardware engineers who previously worked on the iPhone and iPad” and suggests “Apple is beyond the experimentation phase in its development”.

On Monday, The New York Times claimed Apple is experimenting with smart watch designs, with the Cupertino-based company considering curved glass for the wearable device.

Citing “people familiar with the company’s explorations”, the NYT report believed the watch would operate on the iOS platform and potentially utilise Corning’s latest ultra-tough Gorilla Glass that can withstand significant bends.

Apple could control an emerging market – if it releases its own device – of Smart Watches that includes ConnectedDevice’s Cookoo watch and the Pebble watch, which are compatible with the iPhone 4S/5, provide call information, can be used for Facebook posts and messages, calendar reminders and provide low-battery alerts to users.
