When counting down the ways Apple set the bar for smartphones, it’s safe to say that the phone’s built-in camera—even with the improvements introduced with the iPhone 3GS—won’t find its way onto the list. With low resolution—the 3GS offers 3 megapixels, the other models just 2 megapixels—and no flash or zoom, the iPhone’s camera leaves a lot to be desired.
Amidio has released an app called Touch DJ, which the company claims is the the first full-featured DJ application on the iPhone platform.
During a sync, iTunes not only syncs managed information and media, but also creates or updates an iPhone backup. The main function of the backup is to permit you to restore personal data and settings to your iPhone during a Restore (during which the content on the iPhone is typically erased). It also provides a good way to transfer data from an old iPhone to a new one.
NetNewsWire started life as a Mac app seven years ago, making it one of the oldest RSS readers around. The application arrived in iPhone form as Apple opened its mobile platform to third-party developers. NewsGator Technologies has since rolled out version 2.0 of its NetNewsWire Premium app (while also maintaining the free version of NetNewsWire). The premium version is a solid improvement, and though there are some flaws, it’s a strong feed reading app that feels more at home on the iPhone than the previous iteration.
