I have never used any of the previous Office Suites – Mac or PC – but have been having excellent results editing Microsoft Word documents received using Pages ’09 (part of the iWork ’09 suite) and exporting them as PDF files for subsequent upload to our parish website.
My question: Is this export facility – Word to PDF – available in Word 2011? For those looking forward to the arrival of iWork ’11, but faced with an extra item of choice in Office for Mac 2011, it’s an important issue, I would think.

You can indeed save to PDF in Word 2011 just by going to File > Save As and, in the window that pops up, changing Format to PDF. In Pages ’09, you would go to File > Export and choose the PDF option.
But did you know that you can save almost any file from most applications as a PDF by calling up the Print dialogue box (by hitting c-P or going to File > Print) and, instead of clicking the Print button, going to the PDF button at the bottom left of the box. Clicking on this will give you a heap of PDF options (including the simple ‘Save as PDF’).
This brings up a new Save dialogue box, giving you the opportunity to change the filename, choose where to save the file and a few other options.
