Too few objects are shaped like cats. Japanese gadget manufacturer Necono is well aware of this, and has decided to rectify the situation by releasing ‘a digital camera in a cat shape.’ With a lens for a left eye and a sensor for the right, the Necono encourages photographers to behave like its namesake; stealthily. Cats don’t have monitors either, apparently, so the Necono is more about ‘character’ than image quality. In its clear favour, however, is the fact that photographers will find few subjects intimidated by the camera in a cat shape: “This camera does not have the pressure big and bossy cameras have,” says Necono’s advertising material. “It’s capable of transforming the relationship between you and your subject into a happy one.” I’m happy already.
