In its first CES appearance, New South Wales-based RØDE Microphones has launched the iXY stereo microphone for iPhones and iPads with 30-pin connectors. (A Lightning model is in production.) The company says a matched pair of 0.5in cardioid condenser capsules, fixed in a 90-degree alignment, delivers “immersive and true-to-life stereo recordings, captured in incredibly high detail” at sampling rates up to 24-bit/96kHz. Also released is the RØDE Rec iOS app, with features such as multiple sampling rates and equalisation effects.
