  1. Looking For Someone That Knows Motion 5

    30 April 2013 - 12:02 AM

    Hey Forums,

As the title says. I'm looking for someone that knows Motion 5 to help create some titles, bumpers, lower thirds, and credits for a pilot for Channel 31. The show is a music clip show along the lines of another Channel 31 show, Nu Country TV. I've worked as camera, audio, and editor on a number of Channel 31 shows over the last few years and am now trying my hand at producing my own show. We have a working title of Nu Goth TV, but that will most likely change soon.

I'd love to have someone that lives in Melbourne. That way you, and your friends and family, will get to see your work on TV. But even if you're somewhere else in Australia, or even overseas, you should be able to see your work on the Channel 31 web site.

Unfortunately I won't be able to pay you for your work as this is more a passion project. But I'm sure we'll have a première party and I'll feed you pizza and beer. But I'm not making any promises.

For the Mods. I wasn't too sure where to post a request like this. If there's a proper section please let me know so I can move this post.

  2. Ios Pages - Moving Docs Without Internet Connection.

    09 April 2013 - 05:44 PM

    Hey Forums,

Just like the title says. How do I get a doc off my iPhone that has a 3G connection and onto my iPad that currently doesn't have a 3G connection? I also have no Wi-Fi connection. 3G was prepaid and I haven't paid in that long that the number has now expired.

I thought I could do it over Bluetooth but there doesn't seem to be any option in Pages itself. I stupidly thought that the doc would have been pushed to my iPad once I'd finished working on it on my iMac last night at home where I have a Wi-Fi network.

Any ideas? I'm currently working on it on my iPhone and while I can do it, it doesn't look good when people walk past the office. :P

  3. Podcast Hosting

    26 March 2013 - 11:16 PM

    Hi Forums,

Just wondering what people out there use for their podcast hosting. A few friends want to give it a go and I'm the guy with all the audio / video tech so they're all turning to me.

I've tried the iWeb and DropBox option for free web hosting. I'm getting the web page working correctly, but I can't seem to get the podcast and podcast feed / RSS to work. I could be missing a step. But I have a feeling it won't work the way I want it to.

I've also looked at Libsyn, Squarespace, and Godaddy as paid options. But until I know the guys are going to keep at it for a while I don't want to lay out any money just yet. So if there are any free services out there it would be great.

Another option, and the one I think I'm going to go with, is to take the completed audio into FCPX and just add some photos and screen shots of what they're talking about and upload to YouTube. I already have a few channels and am slowly saving up some money from Adsense.

I also wish .Mac was still around.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  4. 2Nd Hand Mac Options...

    15 January 2013 - 10:07 PM

    Hi Forums,

So I've been looking for a cheep laptop to take out to video shoots and events so I can collect GoPro footage and other peoples footage. I've budgeted around $500.oo and I've been looking at a cheep windows netbook. But then I've come to the conclusion that I'm better off getting something that can run FCPX to at least a point that it imports the video. Or just iMovie for import. I have no need to edit on the road.

I've looked at the Refurbished section of the Apple store and everything is out of my price range. Ebay is a pain because every search is full of crap that isn't what I'm after. And Gumtree looks a little dodgy.

So what sites do you guys use if you're ever buying a second hand mac? Or is there any trusted stores that you go to? (I'm in Melbourne, FYI).

Thanks in advance for your help.

  5. Second Display With Imac

    17 December 2012 - 10:34 PM

So I've finally found a Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter and hooked up my '08 iMac to my GFs old display that she was using as a screen when her first Gen MacBook Pro screen died.

It's so much fun to use with FCPX and iMovie. I really don't know why I didn't do this earlier. I know my iMac is old and everyone has moved beyond DVI. But $20.oo for the adapter is better than a new iMac and Thunderbolt display. Well my wallet thinks so.

Anyway. What I haven't been able to work out yet is how to get an app to be full screen on my iMac with another app full screen on the external display. If I have an app full screen on the iMac I just get the "crosshatch" background on the external display. If I drag an app to the external display and then put it in full screen the "crosshatch" shows up on the iMac.

I'd like to have Safari full screen on the iMac with Mail full screen on the display. Maybe even have "Desktop 1" on the iMac and "Desktop 2" on the display. If that makes sense.

I've tried searching through the Apple support communities, but it's mostly people not being able to find how to get iMovie to use the display for the viewer. Unless I still haven't found the right search terms.

Or maybe even Ken will just say, "That's easy, just do X, Y, & Z." And I'll be all "duh, why didn't I already know that."
