Would a rumored retina display be enough to make you run out and buy a MacBook pro ?

Or is a retina display over kill on things like iMacs and laptops ?

Considering you normally sit further away from it than, say a phone or an iPad. Plus you can't easily scroll in like you can on an iOS devise, to get the full retina display, goodness.
Come on 20K

'Retina' display is relative to the device. iPad doesn't have as high a pixel density as the iPhone. I suspect Macbook will be less, but still enough to make it retina display for normal usage.

Agreed. The term is based on a specific distance from the screen and the resolution reflects that distance.

I also suspect that there will be a "one more thing" and that it might just be something that nobody is expecting. Not a tv, not an iPhone something completely unexpected.

I think the one more thing is over Jamie. That was reserved for Steve Jobs as well as the fact they have become predictable lately.

Let's hope I'm wrong and you're right...:)
