China Daily is reporting that Foxconn Chief Terry Gou said during a recent news conference in Shanghai that his company has been making preparations to start producing Apple's TV set...

I said it. And I'll say it again. An Apple TV set makes no sense.

I'm still not betting there will be one, but listening to the rumour mill, I can see the point. They could do nearly all of it with the current ATV box, but being Apple, there will be money to be made, even in this tight market. And some clear differentiation.

1. Dead easy interface. TV channels would be a top level icon alongside your home sharing, iTunes movies, etc. Don't need to go switching between devices.
2. iTunes Store integration.
3. No wires. Would have HDMI connectors but emphasise airplay interconnectivity.
4. Siri integration. (Hopefully Siri actually works.)

It is crazy how complicated it is to switch between devices such play station, apple tv, blu ray etc, or even changing channels. I'd love to see apple make this super easy and more fluid.
