I get people not liking Julia Gillard, I really do. However, I can't help but think that those people haven't realised that the alternative is Tony Abbott.

For the record, my comment wasn't about preference but prediction.

Maybe we need to move on. Religion and politics don't seem to go well on this forum!

I don't think the MacBooks range is dead yet. Nor will it be dead in the near future. I know plenty of friends who plan buying a MacBook in the near future and some of my friends have no plans to get a ipadnthey prefer having a MacBook. And there instill a few friends and including me who plan on getting an iMac soon.

If they dropped the price a little it would help. I was hoping to get a 15" later in the year but I may see if I can go iPad only (let's see what iOS 6 brings) or may have to consider the unthinkable, unnamable something. :shudders:

Or I may replace the iMac with another one. But I think I'm going to need something portable.

I know, I know. A price drop won't happen. I just didn't realize how much more expensive they were.

My next Mac will still be a desktop as for pure processing speed they are far better than laptops and they also have larger and hence more useful screens.

I keep looking at Apple notebooks and while they exude "sexiness" on their build quality they just don't come up to spec for my usability requirements.

You have a point. I don't need the grunt but my son is getting into a lot of music video recording and would want it. Although I suspect a MBP would be adequate. (And the point would be not to share it with the little darlings.)

I have a friend in graphic design and she's looking at getting a new MacBook pro when they come out (if they aren't dead of course ;)) She says she has heard a rumour that the 17" model will be discontinued which would be a bummer for her as that's what she wants.

Can anyone confirm they've heard that rumour too?

Just remember its all Rumours...

I take them with a grain of salt until I see the real announcement.

Apparently the iPhone 4S was meant to be the iPhone 5 with a total new redesign....

Thanks Brian, that's why I called it a rumour ;)
