Wow, why does apple attract so much negative publicity, CNBC went after apple on TV this morning, basically saying apple without steve jobs, will wither and die under Tim Cooks lack lustre control, talk about a way to sink one of the worlds biggest companies.

Does everybody think apple has lost direction since the passing of Jobs, or is apple still stealing the right path, with the only new product since steves death, being the iPad 3.

I do think in the long term Apple will pull back a bit. Jobs was a one of a kind leader. In any case, no company can, or should, stay at the top forever. As that writer said, though, Apple will remain a good company. Very good, I imagine. Above average.

And in the big scheme of things, does it really matter?

Well it's not Rocket Surgery!

As SRB says, it can't stay on top of the pile for ever. It can't keep growing for ever and in the meantime a 95% growth in profit for one quarter doesn't seem too shabby.

Apple will slowly fade away like GE or IBM (which is still one of the world's largest employers) did.

There are large companies most people have never heard of that never had a Steve Jobs - have a look at Compass Group for instance, one of the world's largest employers, just plodding along without Steve Jobs. Makes you wonder how they did it doesn't it?

Cheers,

P

there is no reason why apple can't still produce the worlds best products even if they drop to number two, three or even ten!

even though i'm 100% sure apple love being number one i'm sure that's not what makes them wanna go to work everyday.

and on the steve jobs thing, i don't think any one man can replace him, he's one of a kind, i think apple now has 10 or so people that represent him, each being the best in their field ( for example Jony Ive - master of design)

i think apple will be just fine.

yeah your probably right and i think steve jobs even mentioned jony's name as ceo at one point in his book but having tim as ceo, it leaves jony free to be creative plus hasn't it been quoted jony is the most powerful man at apple?

All that goes up must come down at some stage no?

One can't stay big all the time. By nature humans like to be tops then through unknown and unforeseen circumstances something happens and PLOUF! all gone.

Apple has a long way to go it seems and Steve Jobs is not the only entrepreneur in the world. Their R nD will always be great and their products a hard act to follow. They have the money.

People like him leave a trail that is hard to follow and people start loosing it because it is not like BEFORE. It can never be like before anyway. Everything changes and moves on. It is not good to stick to one icon only.

Hey Ken, are you selling Apple Iphone by any chance?

My conscience is starting to gnaw at me... And by the way did you see this morning in The AGE, (Melbourne paper) that Samsung has overtaken Apple in the sale of Smartphone.
So maybe I should get a Samsung?
