Wow 10,000 apps, its slightly short of the what 500,000 on the iTunes app store, but i guess its getting there.
So who around here actually uses the app store, I haven't logged in there , in about 3 months or more, and i think i have downloaded 2 apps, Pages, and iPhoto.
I just find it to slow and to ugly, and just to damn hard to sort through, yes i know the same can be said about the iOS app store, but at least its snappy and responsive, with the mac version, you press on a file and 10 seconds later it pops up, its horrible.

I find the MAS quite slow too. I don't buy a lot of software for my Mac as it's pretty much setup for everything I do already.
That being said, if I am looking for software I generally start at the MAS.

You might not know it to look at me, but I'm pretty radical.

I use it occasionally. If I need something I'll compare prices with dev's online store or if it's cheap or free just go to the MAS for convenience. If you're trying to open a file-type that isn't registered OS X will give you the option of checking the MAS as well. I've got quite a few MAS apps.
