Hi,
just got a tech question. Got a VOIP number but got Billion 7800N as modem/wifi with no phone socket only an ADSL line....

. What is the best ATA that I can get for the MAc and and for Billion modem?

Do have ADSL2

Would it be better to get the ATA or the Siemens phone Gigaset for Mac without interfering with connection?

Your opinion would be welcome and also what would be the best reliable place to get the ATA if and when needed.

Great question pegi, I have virtually the same set up as you, and I wouldn't mind viop as well, so if anybody has the answer I will also watching with keen interest

Ken, I have not forgotten waiting for an answer from Billion as I emailed them directly to find out. I guess I could chat also on Whirlpool. But pressed for time at the moment. Will let you know for sure.

Ok Ken, got a reply from JMG technology. (jason)

He was the only one that actually asked questions about my setup...phone+ ADSL+ computer. I thought that was a little more rigorous than Pennytel which only directed to their shop to buy any ATA. The others have not even bothered replying. I actually bought my Billion modem/router from him last year.

He contributes regularly on the Whirpool forum and actually answers many questions from his customers. Sounds a reasonable sort of bloke

After a whole exchange of emails he proposed the following brand :(which he sells of course) am I cynical????

Minitar MVA11A. It can handle up to 5 different VoIP providers as well as PSTN all back to the one handset/socket.

I have ordered it it costs $70 + postage. It looked reasonable after a quick price checkup on line.

Will try it and will let you know further.
