Hi,

So it doesn't take long for iOS devices to be jailbroken, and true to form the iPad (3) has a few hacks already.

What are your thoughts?

What do you gain by jailbreaking your device?

After iOS 5 I found no compelling reason to JB. A couple of utilities would be nice but not worth the hassle IMO.

Yeah, I'm the same. I don't need the functionality it offers ... I'm very happy in Apple's little walled garden!

I've always intended to do it if only to get around the stupid 20mb 3G data limit. But now that's up to 50...
You might not know it to look at me, but I'm pretty radical.

I do all my business banking on my phone, and I am fearful of doing anything that could compromise, what ever security apple has built into there devise.

I'm afraid I'll stuff up my devices if I Jailbreak.

I'm happy with Apples little ecosystem.

Jail breaking, just opens the door to viruses, malware etc, you don't know what the heck you are installing, in my short stink with my android phone, I found the most popular app wasn't angry birds, it was actually an anti virus program that ran in the background, and checked your apps as you installed them, plus checked every email as you downloaded it.

That hits the nail on the head, Ken. Yeah, if you can't resist going under the hood, tweaking and hacking, then go for it. But the benefits of the Apple/iOS ecosystem far outweigh the benefits of jailbreaking for the vast majority of users. And viruses are top of the list.
