There are some interesting points raised here guys.

Perhaps there will be no iTV. It will be a reinvented ATV with maybe a remote control with Siri or something of that nature.

Would you use your iOS device as a remote? Siri on the iPhone to control the tv? Would be a lazy person's dream.

I already use my 3GS for the ATV. Using Siri makes a lot of sense.

Yeah me too..I use my iPhone to control my ATV, so having Siri functionality makes sense as well.

I can't see Apple creating a whole TV set. It doesn't make sense financially.

Well with any luck we'll find out on Thursday.

I use both my iPhone and iPad to control my apple tv and air play.

Andy even if they do, it won't be launched this week. Do we really think they'd share a new product launch with a product refresh. (Unless they're really trying to blindside us with 'one more [really big] thing'.)

You're all making such good sense that I'm beginning to think my iTV dream may be over. Dammit.

I've gotta say that if they release an iPad 3, new Apple TV and new Airport Express I'll be buying all three!!

Cheers
Dave

All I can say is that there better be more than just the iPad 3/HD announcement.

wait, i've got it, the invite says "we've got something we want you to see and touch" so they want us to "see" the TV and touch the iPad HD :)

I am not giving up my dream just yet of a full blown apple branded TV box, with an in built digital receiver than can decode a pay tv signal, with the ability to choose which channels you want to see at x$ per channel, rather than being told you have to pay X per month, for a bundle of channels you never watch, just to get the ones you want to watch.

That's the reason I don't have pay tv. I hate that you just can't choose the channels you want.

And that's why pay tv is screwed in this Country, if apple revolutionized the pay tv industry, like they did the music industry, it would boom

Yep I'm with you one this on TL. I think a super charged set box and my prediction of giant cinema displays is the best way.

You don't need a display to be able to revolutionise the industry. In fact, it would be counter productive. What will have more uptake? A box or display. Of course, that doesn't rule out them doing both.

But not this week. This week the to-be-announced ATV3 will only be peripheral to the iPad.

And hopefully a preview of iOS 6.. But now I'm dreaming.

That will happen mid year.

The hype around these events get blown out of proportion. All I'm expecting is the iPad 3 announcement and that's it.

That way I won't be disappointed.

But really im hoping for more..he he

You may be right JZ, and it will appear on the iPhone HD ( getting in early on this one)
