A well deserved trophy I'm talking about the Trustee Grammy accolade awarded to Steve Jobs in recognition of his contribution to the music industry. Eddy Cue accepted the award on Jobs' behalf last night and you can watch the full video of his speech here.

I'm sure the honour and recognition would have been a proud moment for Steve, had he been there to accept it.

Why on earth would you give Steve a Grammy .. Did he write music (NO) did he sing (maybe in the shower) why on earth give the guy a Grammy, it just makes a mockery of the whole music industry.

Would you give bill gates an award for brain surgery ?

He launched iTunes... And suddenly the music industry realized they could make some real money from the internet rather than just lose it through piracy. In the words of the music industry... 'Yay Steve'

I agree with you Ken, not really an award. He did not write any of it. I think it is a little too full on. But Itunes could get a mention it is an innovation not an actual song genius.

He saved the music industry.

I've bought way more music then I would have back in the cd days. I've discovered way more music too.

He simply saw a commercial opportunity to make money for apple, he didn't give two hoots about the music industry, he needed iTunes to sell iPods and make millions, if not billions.

And if he did so called save the music industry, why on earth did he still play old fashioned records on his record player and not an iPad ???

He did not deserve an award !!

Ken... I think you need a holiday. Chill dude.

He did contribute to the music industry in a big way, whether it was for monetary gain or not.. Either way his ideas gave musicians an avenue to sell their music instead of it being pirated.

I can see why it would appear to be odd for Steve to get an award at a music awards ceremony... But look beyond that and see how he or should I say Apple saved the music industry.

Most musicians say he ruined it, thats why there is still so many bands, who won't put there music on iTunes.

I know you are all Steve jobs fans, but Steve's only interest was in making money, not saving any industry, why don't they give out awards to the guy who invented VCRs for saving the film industry ?

He was a bona fide music fan even if he commercialised it. What musician or producer hasn't (or hasn't tried to)?

But keep poking the stick Ken, I haven't enjoyed the forums this much for a while :D

I wouldn't call my self a Steve Fan but he did save the music industry or at least helped open up a decent revenue stream. And since when has 'the industry' been about the bands?? ;)

But it's the Grammy awards, it's about recording artists, and musicians... Not about people who have profited off them ? What's next Macworld 2012 and they give an award to Whitney Houston for best song of 1990 ?
