Like I originally said, I'm with you and don't see the value for jailbreaking my products, but as Islandhead pointed out, some people like to test what they can do outside of the walled garden.
The benefit for us is that some of these clever people come up with app ideas that are outside Apples rules, but inevitably some other bright spark will find a way to make an app that does meet the rules. So JB is just another means for innovation. And I'm now off to find you an example... ;-)
