Hi everyone

I just installed Lion on my partner 's computer and after the restart he found out in the launch pad that almost everything was double.

I explain: double icon for Automator, Garage Band, Mail all MAc Apps have a double Icon. I tried to remove it but it won't let me.

Does anyone know what causes this problem and what can be done about it?

Sounds like, Lion didn't remove or update your previous apps, which is kinda weird, i am thinking your only option may be to do a clean install, to make sure that any old apps are removed and replaced with the current lion versions.

Hi, just a quick word to tell you that it did not work. I reinstalled the OS and to no avail.

What I discovered was that it had 2 application folders. So I deleted it and when I reopened Applications and empty the thrash the whole duplication had disappeared.

So we can say that the problem has been solved.

Ken, I have no ideas on why this happened. WHen I installed Lion on Peter's computer, I saw that in the launch pad all MAc Apps came in twos. God knows why.

I wished I had a logical explanation for that ...to no avail. SO I reinstalled Lion and the same thing happened. I looked into the Apps folder and saw there everything in duplicate...So I decided to get rid of it checking that it would not perturbed the setting. It worked. I did not have to reinstall it in the first place.

That is a lot of explanation without really knowing why.

Do you have any thoughts on that?

PS: Mac offers a download of LION to put on a USB to keep as a recovery disk.....Just pure genius!

I have had the odd gremlin on lion, but your one, was a first , but I am guessing not the last.

Well, Ken that is ONE thing I would NEVER do. Iphone is one thing. My MAc is another. It is quite amazing how in fact they don't date that much comparing to PC. No, I like it too much for that. The style, the look, the line, the picture, the compactness, not clumsy, not noisy...a gem Ken. So not likely to switch at all. After 15 years with PC and having fun, doing all sorts of weird stuff on it, I use my Mac for the sheer joy of it and not having to do hardly anything to it.
