Just purchased this baby and have the new clock faces from the 1.2 mac OS, this is just a revamp of an old product but still has plenty of potential.....

I went to the Apple Store today to take another look at the Nano...after being distracted by the Air and playing on it for a while.... I finally walked up the beautiful glass stair case to the second floor and played on the Nano.
It's pretty cool... but you're right Mick..there is no option to keep the backlight on all the time. This has kind of disuaded me from buying it. As it would be perfect as a watch. I guess the battery wouldn't last long if it was on all the time.
Also I wonder if they will ever release the nano with Bluetooth built in? That would make it even more tempting, as I am thinking of getting Bluetooth headphones.
So at this stage, I'll stick with my iPhone as my primary device for listening to music.
I also had a play on the Classic, and even though it looks dated against all the other models, that click wheel is still great. Steve Jobs was brilliant...no other music player comes close!

More on the Nano, most of us would remember the original Sony Walkman, now you must picture that sucker in your mind when you hold the Nano, all 21.1 grams of it in your palm.
Also of note it's 16 Gb, all that in something so tiny! Remember the 1.33 mb floppy disks
This little baby has a screen that is just beautiful, it's fast, you can pre-program the bass & treble levels (via iTunes), listen to the FM radio, I think the wire for the ear buds acts as an antenna.
There is more to find out about the little jem, the Nike transponder in the shoe works with the Nano as well, well i think it does, at present mine is on the first battery flatten / re-charge cycle so
I am leaving it alone to do the full charge. I am sure someone will shot me down if I am wrong. My daughter has eye'd it off already, she said that it can be tucked into her bikini and she doesn't have to lug the iPod touch around anymore.
Will report more when i learn anymore of the functionality that has eluded my keen eye for detail....

Thanks for the thoughts, Mick. Do the bigger icons make any difference?
Cheers

Brian, to be honest I can't see them adding bluetooth to the nano, I think the power drain, to run the bluetooth connection, would kill the small battery in it, and shoot the play tine down to 1 or 2 hours.
Come on 20K

Dave it comes down to personal preferences, me I like the small icons, the big ones just waste screen real estate,

The watch strap looks the goods and is alot better in real life than it looks in this macro shot, the straps are detachable so you can swap around the watch straps so that it can be worn on either arm.
Me i am ambidextrous among other things, (no Ken) so i wear my watches on my right arm.

Yeah, you're right Ken. I'm just sick of wires... I imagine a world where we are all free from wires.
