Steve Jobs 1955-2011
Apple has now confirmed the sad passing of Steve Jobs

"Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being.
Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve has lost a dear friend and inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple".

It is a sad day for Apple fans everywhere, I personally feel like I have lost someone near and dear to me.

It is true that most of us (in fact probably none of us) have ever meet the man but I am sure that we all feel a connection to him due to the wonderful devices that he has bestowed upon the world.

It is with some sadness that I glance at my iPhone knowing that the mind that created this special device is no longer with us, I just hope that perhaps he has gone to a better place.

OMG.. I knew it was coming, but it's still such a shock, there will never be another Steve Jobs, it's one of those things that will stick in your head like JFK being shot and of course the murder of John Lennon... I am speechless

Nice tribute at http://boingboing.net/

The whole site has a skin which emulates the original Mac OS.

RIP. The world has lost a great leader. I'm in shock also, although I don't suppose anyone is surprised.

What a sad day.... I had a feeling this would happen soon, but what a shock.

He was a true inspiration, and has made such a huge impact on the world and my life.

I just walked past the Apple Store in Sydney and out of tribute stood there for a few minutes watching the film crews and reflecting on the greatness of Apple and the brilliance of Steve Jobs.

I am honoured to share this passion for such an amazing company and it's products with all of you on this forum.

RIP... Steve.

I called Steve The Messiah, he was and created the digital age that will define a generation, he took me on his journey from 1980 to today, I loved and dreamed and used every minute of it, Steve created my world and defined my life, gave me the way too make money by his products to eat and live....
he changed the world...for the good and not just to make money and not many people out there can say that, and he did it to make the world a very different place than it was when i came into it, that is his legacy and his foundation stone and that was always the dream, change the world...and he did.

Thanks Steve...

Deeply saddened and moved by the tributes that are now pouring in from all over the world, comparisons are being made and i feel that Steve Jobs will in my mind be only that, Steve Jobs, a great visionary and mind of our age

R.I.P Mr Steve Jobs,

Devastating news. I was late in finding out, too. My friend actually broke the news to me on Facebook.

People spent so many words and time spent pondering what Apple and life would be like without Steve. But you don't anticipate how wide the gap and how empty the void really is until it's reality.

A sad day for technology, design, community, communication, the arts, identity, culture, industry, innovation, the world.

A visionary lost can never be replaced.

It is somehow fitting that I have read all the tributes throughout the afternoon on my iPad. Only two people that I hadn't met have ever touched me with their passing; John Lennon and now Steve Jobs. RIP Steve.

I think that's exactly why we all feel the loss so keenly. The guy was so much a part of our lives on this forum especially! that he'd become like family.

RIP Steve. Miss you already.

I made fun of Micheal Jackson fans... ...But now I think I know how they feel...

I've had a really busy day at work and it's not until I've now gotten the chance to slow down and read the news that I really feel how much Steve Jobs means to me.

And like Pres Obama said, it really is a testament to the mark you've made on the world that most people hear about your death on a device that you created.

Apple posted a very iconic picture of steve jobs on their home page, its a little tricky to simply drag and drop into a folder as a keep sake, or a memory of the great man, but if you would like a copy, i have managed to copy it, and here it is for anybody who wants it.
