How are widgets used on android?

I'd rather see live apps like the calendar one (how it shows the current date) For example the weather widget would display the weather temp rather then launching the app

On Android they are exactly the way you describe them JZ. It would be awesome on iOS, particularly the iPad with it's large screen.
