Hi all ... alert reader Brendan Jones has emailed me, saying:

"Someone appears to have fired a bullet into the front of the Sydney Apple store in George St - and as a result one of their very expensive, 10 m tall, imported-from-Germany panes of glass now has a nice crack in it all the way from the very bottom to the very top.

"Not only will it take months to get a replacement pane, and cost a fortune, re-installing it will be a nightmare.

"I wonder if the architects thought about the risks of an all-glass facade, when they opted for form and flashiness over function?"

Any other Sydneysiders seen it? Anyone know what happened?

Cheers
Dave

Well they built the first one in New York; though in the better part of town I might add. Now people know they can create a crack from top to bottom of a pane, they might actually set about trying to do it. Hood mentality. "See that crack there? I did that. It's well good innit."

BTW the cube in NYC is pretty cool. The store itself is slightly ordinary. Single floor, average range of stuff, but still worth a 2 hour look around. One of my travel companions did it at 4am after going up the Empire State at 1am, and checking the local night life in one of the more popular parts of town.
