What I really want to hear is when you guys think we're talking sh*te and when we're on the money.
But it would be no fun if we kept only having a bet each way and weren't opinionated?

Most of the posts on this and other forums egnerally have comments regarding the topic, not just "I agree" or "no you're wrong". The more extensive posts contain content and reasoning, not just a sentence (of course, this is just my opinion smile.gif ).

I've just finished listening to the latest episode (17).

I use Safe Boot mode whenever I'm about to install software. I first repair permissions and then restart and hold down the shift key. I then install the software, reboot manually if the software I installed didn't do that anyway and then repair permissions again. Once a month I also use Disk Utility to verify my HDD. DU has yet to report a problem that required repair.

I started using the above method to install software soon after receiving my current machine (an MBP). Prior to changing to that method, I repaired peermissions then started up from Disc 1 of the Install DVD to check the HDD using the copy of DU on the DVD.. Unfortunately, the DVD wouldn't always start; the drive would sometimes attempt to load it three times then eject it. After this had happened a number of times, I turned to using Safe Boot.

MJCP show 17 was ripped way too low....try 128 next time. Heck even the theme was hard to listen to on the last show smile.gif

My apologies for the low bitrate. We ran to nearly an hour, and even trimming it fairly severely there was about 50 minutes where we usually aim for about 30. So the file was massive, and it was either lower the bitrate or cut stuff I didn't want to cut. Your choice may have been different to mine.

The podcast was fine, maybe a little long, but hey who's counting, and as far as sound quality went it was also ok, so all round no complaints from my end

Great Podcast 18 - the theme music is settling in really well with the rest of the Podcast.

The internet restriction topic really strikes a chord with me because Health IT goes bananas when it comes to restricting content. As of May, GMail, amongst other sites, are going to be added to the already extensive list of "no-go" areas. This is a cross-of-the-line for me because I and many of my colleagues, who are contractors rather than salaried specialists, do not have access to NSW Health GroupWise accounts and thus must rely on other e-mail services to provide a repository for professional e-mail correspondence. I am fortunate in that my GMail is pushed through my BlackBerry, so I avoid this problem, but I really consider this "the thin end of the wedge". sad.gif

Finally have made time to listen to one of your podcasts - episode 19. Lots of great interviews and information. Did you use audacity to make it? I would like to see some Mac features in the podcast like chapters so I can jump through to the topics I want to listen to especially as the podcast went for 55:40. Some pictures would be nice also and perhaps some weblinks.
Thanks guys.

Thanks for the feedback -- we're looking at all of these options. Initial recording is done using Audacity, and editing it together is done with GarageBand, so adding chapter markers, graphics etc would not be difficult, just an extra step in an already time-consuming process.

this week's podcast, which would have been number 21, will instead be a bumper edition featuring some material recorded for, but not used in, episode 20. Long story folks, but rest assured you will get the best bits of ep20.

Just a note on Episode 21. This week, and for the next little while, the podcast will go live on Saturday morning, not Friday as it has in the past. Apologies for any disappointment this may cause.

So i will be expecting to see pictures on AMW of the madness outside in about 6 weeks time maybe less

Haven't listened yet, but maybe we can make a que - round up some buddies and converge on some store somewhere, just to prove MJCP wrong wink.gif

I had a look at the new WhereIs site and found it to be better but I think I'll still stick to Google Maps.

no way Mick that new whereis site is awsome, I looked up my house and it was spot on. My daughter bought a horse float a few weeks ago and parked it outside and bingo there it was on the picture, I nearly flipped when I saw it. I am super impressed
