Hi Matthew,
While you're at the expo, see if you can pin down the MS MacBU or an Australian rep and ask them to explain why US & Canadian customers who purchase MS Office 2004 prior to the release date for Office 2008 get a free (less shipping) upgrade to the premium Office 2008 Special Media Edition regardless of the edition of Office 2004 they purchase, while Australian customers can only upgrade to the equivalent edition (eg, Student & Teacher version of both). This seems like a case of unwarranted discrimination.

Did you get an explanation for this difference?
Thanks.

I did actually, and I'm just trying to find the text to paste in. When I find it I will.
Basically it came down to each different region being able to decide what special offers and other discounts they were going to present to their market. That was an offer that the USA decided to offer and Australia didn't, but there were other offers that Australia got that the USA didn't offer.
I asked for examples of those offers that Australia got but the USA didn't, and I did get a response on that but can't find it now. Thanks for the reminder though -- I will find it, and I will post it here.

You'd be better off posting this in the Thgird Party Software forum. MJCP will probably answer you there.
