Last week Dan Moren reviewed FileMaker's new personal database app, Bento. He looked at it from the perspective of the general database user deciding which way they should go when deciding on a new database app. That's all well and good, but the question I hear most often about iWork is "when is it going to be a fully-fledged replacement for AppleWorks"? If Bento does well I won't be surprised to see v.2 by the end of the year with a lot of new functionality included.

"And well it should. Even now that iWork includes a spreadsheet as well as word processing and presentation software, it is the successor to AppleWorks in much the same way George W. Bush is the successor to Abraham Lincoln. It may have a similar title, but it is in no way a replacement."
Indeed. George W. doesn't have any bullet holes in him. Yet.
I don't come from an Appleworks background, but I've certainly hit less friendly DB apps over the years, and I've transferred an older Filemaker database into Bento -- via the export/import CSV function -- with very few problems at all. A nice app.
