Thanks, Mick. We are still using the RØDE but learning to use it properly! D2 pointed out that I hadn't specified the RØDE as the input mic in Garage Band, even though I had done so in Prefs ... so the last couple might actually have been produced using the built-in mic on my MacBook Pro. Not sure, but judging by the audio it's certainly possible!
This one was done using the Podcaster mic properly mounted on a RØDE arm with shock mounts and specified as the input device in Garage Band. And D2 and I positioned ourselves much closer to the mic and spoke up more.
There was still some reverb in the track, which Keith reckons might be due to the fact I recorded it on a Female Vocal track, which has four effects built in! (Yeah, I just hadn't noticed the track names ... having never been involved in audio production before.)
So for the next one, D2 and myself will be heading down to Keith's place for some instruction and (hopefully) some local beer so we finally get it right. And K9's also suggested I use Sound Studio instead of Garage Band.
Any other suggestions?
Cheers
Dave

Flipping heck, this is bigger than Ben Hur! Beginning to sound like your recording on Windows - turn around twice, touch your nose with your left ring finger, press any key... no, not THAT key stupid
Unfortunately my web browsing is on a tethered iPhone while I wait for iiNet (or more specifically Telstra) to switch me over to NDSL, so no podcasting for me until that happens.

Two other products to investigate are Rogue Amoeba's venerable Audio Hijack Pro and Ambrosia Software's WireTap Studio.

Thanks. David Braue and I use WireTap for our interviews. Haven't used HiJack Pro for ages. No particular reason.
For simple stuff I record in SoundStudio and edit in GB
